A class that dives deep into how to lunge in Surya Namaksara B. Technically a lunge is defined as an exercise where you step one leg forward, bend your front knee and lower your pelvis towards the ground. Both Virabhadrasana (Warrior) I and II are classic lunges that perfectly fit this definition. Train your mind to think of every form of lunging as a great rather small, extraordinary rather ordinary human exercise and make best use of every opportunity to lunge. Why is lunging so great? For starters maybe you have heard the phrase strong legs strong heart weak legs weak heart. When you lunge you weight your femur bones and you exercise the largest, longest and strongest bones in your body. Having strong thighs is the key to having strong legs and your legs need to be strong because they have the life long job of supporting your spinal position all day every day. In supporting your head, spine, torso, and pelvis is not a stretch to say that your legs support and influence the health of the organs within your abdominal and chest cavities including your heart and other vital organs.
