"Sixth Position is the only position of the nine positions of Surya Namaskara that you hold the posture for several breaths. In ashtanga
yoga we call this remaining in a posture 'the state of the asana'. This is where you want to swiftly transition from dynamic movement to
dynamic stillness. The movements that come before are meant to prepare you for the places where you remain in the state of the
asana. Because it is in remaining still that you train yourself to the mental discipline of yoga. You become immediately present to the inner circumstances within your body. You endeavor to sustain this awareness for the duration of your stay in the asana increasingly
without lapses in attention or unnecessary movements of your body. You want your vibrant, alert, and perceptive mind to remained
focused internally on the cycle of the breath, the play of the senses and elements, and on intentionally chosen sacred locations within the
body such as the ones I have introduced (muladhara, shushumna, khecari, and such). The duration of the hold in each position is
variable, but on average it lasts for between five and eight breaths of medium length. While
you remain in Sixth Position enjoy the complete, long, regulated cycle of your breath. Allow your attention
to span back and forth within the Shushumna from pelvic base to the crown at the peak. Let breath help your mind and body to further
align the positioning of your joints, especially your hips and shoulders."
