You may have found that there appears to be very little connection between Head to Knee C Pose (Janusirsasana C) and its brothers A and B or that proficiency in A and B don't necessarily lead to knowing how to execute Head to Knee C. In fact I think of Janusirsasana C as a sort of alien from another asana world that was somehow accidentally dropped down into the primary series. This is mostly because achieving this posture requires significantly more hip joint flexibility than either Head to Knee A or B. But Janu C does belong in the primary because it can be considered as a 'baby' posture that introduces a set of extremely challenging asanas that are found in Ashtanga Yoga's Advanced series including Viranchasana B and Mula Bandhasana. Janu C is a complex asana that combines hip opening and forward bending principles. In this video I focus on the hip work in the posture, and thus I take you through the set up and entry into the posture, and show you an excellent way to grab and rotate the foot, as well as work in the asana.
